Bringing more rainfall, the south-west monsoon on Sunday further advanced into the entire region of Punjab and Haryana causing maximum temperatures to drop below the 30 degrees Celsius mark at many places.
A day after hitting some parts of the region, the south-west monsoon caused heavy downpours at Chandigarh earlier on Sunday which recorded a maximum of 27.8 deg Celsius, down by nine notches, the MeT said.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 29.2 deg Celsius, down eight notches, after being drenched by rains. Hisar, which was lashed by 13.2 mm of rains, recorded a maximum of 32 deg Celsius, down eight degrees.
Gurgaon received a rainfall of 10 mm and recorded 36.5 deg Celsius as maximum, down one notch. Narnaul received heavy rain at 27 mm and the high there settled at 32 deg Celsius, down seven notches.
Rohtak registered a high of 30.3 deg Celsius, down eight degrees.
In Punjab, Amritsar received light showers and the maximum settled at 32 deg Celsius, down six degrees.
Ludhiana was pleasant at 27.7 deg Celsius maximum, down ten notches, after getting 14.4 mm rain. Patiala was at a maximum of 28.6 deg Celsius, down eight notches, after receiving 26 mm of rain.
