Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of repeated incursions by Chinese forces and ceasefire violations by Pakistan, former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has asked as to what is stopping him from solving issues that were priority for him during the Lok Sabha polls.
Accusing Modi of running a false propaganda in his favour by playing divisive politics, Kumar, who snapped ties with the saffron party for proposing Modi’s name for the top post, without naming the PM said, “He owes an explanation as to where his 56-inch chest has gone?”
Reminding the golden days of the then Janata Dal, Kumar said the manner in which Haryana gave mandate to Devi Lal in 1980s, which was followed by the Janata Dal government, the agrarian state should vote in favour of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) led by Om Prakash Chautala.
Lashing out at the BJP-led Centre, he said the recent bypoll results have already shown the saffron party its place, as the party had put its old warhorses, who gave their life to party, in cold storage.

Raising a chorus for unity, Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav and former MLA from Uttar Pradesh, Shivpal Yadav — who is brother of Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav — said to counter the challenge posed by the BJP-led Centre, they all must get united to present a consolidated opposition.
Both leaders remembered Devi Lal for his contribution to the farming community.
Former prime minister and leader of Janata Dal (Secular) HD Deve Gowda stressed on the need to strengthen the hands of leaders from parties other than the Congress and BJP.
