The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has not reported any cheating cases in the Class 10 examinations this year. However, the board revealed that in the year 2012, four cases of using unfair means and cheating were reported during the examinations.
RJ Khanderao, regional officer, CBSE said, “No students have been found cheating or using any kind of unfair means in their Class 10 examinations. The reason behind more children securing perfect cummulative grade point average (CGPA) 10 is the new continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE). This system of evaluation has decreased the pressure on a child by assessing him or her throughout the year rather than waiting for one examination in the year.”
“According to the board CCE is helping in a proper and holistic development of a child. There was a time when students used to cheat in examination because they had a constant pressure of passing the examination, since this was the exam that decided their fate. But, now the scenario has changed and the students are being assessed even on their nature”, said Khanderao.
He said, “This year 1,369 children from the tricity have secured a CGPA of 10 from both government and private schools and the competition has increased considerably. Last year, the percentage of students securing CGPA 10 was 5.87, which has increased to 6.90.”

{{/usCountry}}“The pass percentage in the region has increased to 99.45 from 98.08 in 2013. It is 99.63% in case of girls and 99.30% in boys, and the credit goes to CBSE's new innovative evaluation system”, said Khanderao.
Khanderao said the overall result of the tricty was very good. When asked who had performed better, the board-based or the school-based candidates, he said the papers were checked without disclosing this thing. Private schools have more 10 CGPA'sthis year as compared to government schools. The government schools have only 30 perfect scores, though last year there were nearly 100 CGPA's with 10.
Preeti Mehta, a student who secured CGPA 10 said, “The basic reason is that all students have done their best and the CCE has given the required extra boost.”
