Hot weather conditions continued unabated across Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday with mercury hovering close to the 40 degrees Celsius mark.

According to MeT office, Bhiwani in Haryana experienced a hot day at 40.7 degrees C, two notches above normal. Narnaul also had a hot day at 40 degrees C while Ambala's maximum settled at 38.7 degrees C.

Chandigarh residents also braved a hot day at 38.2 degrees C, up one notch than normal.
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a high of 40.4 degrees C while Ludhiana and Patiala registered respective maximum temperatures of 39.7 degrees C and 39.2 degrees C.
