Jammu and Kashmir police chief Kuldeep Khoda has said that there are no inputs regarding revival of women cadre of banned Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit in the state.
"We do not have such inputs regarding revamping of women cadre in LeT in the state as LeT has almost been wiped out of Jammu and Kashmir," Khoda told reporters on the sidelines of a function in Jammu on Thursday.
The DGP's statement came in the backdrop of minister of state for home Jitendra Singh's statement in Rajya Sabha that there have been some unconfirmed reports that LeT was reviving its women cadre and planning to use it in Jammu and Kashmir.
"Earlier, the women cadre was used as courier by militants but presently so such incident has been reported across the state," the JK police chief said.
He however said that about 200 militants are still active in the state but no specific threats are on cards adding that "security forces have upper hand and they are geared up to fight terrorism with iron hand."
Meanwhile, on week-long navratras starting from Friday, Khoda said that tight security arrangements have been made in the region for smooth and successful celebration of the festival.
"Unprecedented number of devotees would visit the world famous Mata Vaishno Devi temple at Katra and Mahakali temple at Bahu Fort in Jammu during navratras," he said and added that the police was maintaining tight vigil to prevent any untoward incident.
