Punjabi girl Kulraj Randhawa set many a heart aflutter when she began her career with TV soap Kareena Kareena in 2004. Ever since, her charming face has been seen in a couple of Punjabi films and two Hindi movies, one of which didn’t do too well.
But the actor remains nonchalant, saying, “Some films do well and others don’t. The critics gave good reviews on my performance in Chaar Din Ki Chandni. What matters is that I am satisfied with my performance.”
In city to inaugurate Venky’s Xprs in Sector 35, Kulraj looked elegant in a Nishka Lulla ensemble, having evidently lost the baby fat. Point it out, and she says, “I know I was chubby when I entered the entertainment industry, and carried an innocent Punjabi look. But it isn’t possible to carry muscle mass forever. In Mumbai, one needs to be very conscious of one’s look. A makeover is required for different projects.”
About not seen in Punjabi films since 2009, Kulraj defends her stance, saying she hasn’t been getting lucrative projects. “I never left the Punjabi industry, have always been loyal to it and will be. But the offers that I was getting were not interesting. I know how many films I want to do,” she smiles.
About the cut-throat competition in the world of Hindi films, the actor says, “Its quite difficult to survive in the competitive industry in Mumbai, which calls for a lot of struggle. But in my case, who doesn’t have a godfather, I was quite clear with wanting to be stable and not being desperate for fame.” She adds with humility, that though she isn’t struggling anymore, she isn’t topping the charts either.

{{/usCountry}}Soon, Kulraj will be producing a Punjabi commercial movie and also acting in it. Will she shoot in her beloved state? “I don’t know what has happened to the lush green farms of Punjab. It is getting commercial. But let’s see, if we find a good location, then I am all for it.”
September will also have another of her films go on the floors, which is a Raj Kanwar Productions’ Hindi film.
