Being a regular blogger and having more than a thousand poetry pieces to her credit, this is the first time that Sangeeta Suneja, a Delhi-based airline manager, thought of writing a collection of stories, poems and motivational thoughts - The First Few Minutes. The book — released first in October 2013 in New Delhi — was re-released on Saturday in Chandigarh.
Sangeeta’s writing covers a huge canvas; it portrays the chaos of a young mind in growing India, attempting to reconcile the constrictions of the untold. “Through my writings, I try to connect. That connection is with everything, in and around us.
Connection with relationships, environment, human beings leads us to wholesomeness of life and that further leads us to conscious living — living with awareness,” says Sangeeta and adds, “My book is my submission, to the creation and the creator, a thanksgiving, in the form of poetry, short stories and a few essays. The content of my book has taken years to brew, in the wooden caskets of life experiences, in my growth. What all bits of small lessons I have learnt, in my failures, pains, happiness, love and spirituality, I have tried to sketch them in small pieces of art, picking and giving some shades from my own life experiences.”
The socially active Sangeeta keeps posting and sharing her fascinating sonnets online. “I have been penning poetry since my school days. For me, poetry is not a monument, it is not a tomb, not a stone, no graveyard, no market place; it is an open sky, where the spirit is free to fly,” says she.

{{/usCountry}}Explaining the title, she says, “The first few minutes right after birth are crucial for a new born. If it cries out loud, attention of the universe, it is born and is alive. My cry as a newborn baby, in a hope to live, has been answered by the universe in my readers. The first few minutes of every endeavour of our lives are important, seeking directions and connections at all ages. I aim to connect through my book to every genre, directly or indirectly.”
Her book is not just bunch of short stories and poems, but a collection of beautiful words of affections, love and wisdom threaded in visionary thoughts towards all walks of life.
