One held in missing BMW cars from vehicle carrier case

A month after vehicle carrier truck found abandoned and three BMW cars worth Rs 1.5 crore missing from it, the police claimed to have solved the mystery after arresting a person on Monday. The accused has been identified as Gurmeet Singh, who originally hails from Punjab, but reside in Sunderpur village of the district.

A month after vehicle carrier truck found abandoned and three BMW cars worth Rs 1.5 crore missing from it, the police claimed to have solved the mystery after arresting a person on Monday. The accused has been identified as Gurmeet Singh, who originally hails from Punjab, but reside in Sunderpur village of the district.

As per details, last month, the accused with the help of three others, had snatched the vehicle carrier which had started its journey from Chennai for Chandigarh, by eliminating its driver near Rajasthan and brought the vehicle to Rohtak and abandoned it after stealing three of the cars from it.

Police had found the vehicle carrier truck parked near the bus stand area under the Urban Estate police station. During probe, the police discovered that three BMW cars were missing.

Talking to mediapersons, inspector Sandeep Dhankar said that the accused had murdered the truck driver and snatched the vehicle at a place falling under the jurisdiction of Chanduji police station. "Later, they sold three BMW cars to a person in Amritsar in Punjab," he added.
