Due to considerable dip in day temperature, demand for electricity has also decreased. Now, the region is not facing any unscheduled load-shedding.

As it rained, area residents, particularly youngsters, heaved a sigh of relief since they were facing humid weather for many days now. Children could be seen frolicking in puddles of rainy water in different areas of Karnal.

According to an official estimation, about 1.65 lakh hectares of land would be under paddy cultivation in Karnal district, known the world over for its superior basmati rice. Agriculture officials said that of this, about 1 lakh hectares would be used to sow non-basmati varieties.

Paddy sowing is in full swing in the state and is expected to continue till mid-July. Farmers are happy that they would now not have to depend on tube well water for irrigation for paddy crop.
