Additional superintendent of police (vigilance and ACB) Susheel Sharma said following a receipt of complaint, a special team was constituted to execute the operation that laid a trap to nab the alleged accused Ganesh Dutt Attri.

Sharma said shortly after Attri accepted the bribe money, the team members arrested him and recovered the cash from his possession.

“The accused has allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant, in lieu of releasing a cheque. The accused has allegedly declined to release the cheque of Rs 75,000 without the bribe money. After this, the complainant filed a complaint with the vigilance,” added the ASP.

Sharma said that a special team had also been constituted to seal the bank accounts of the accused and his family members. Besides, assessment of his property would also be made.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against them.
