PGI cancels MD entrance exam

The Postgraduate Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, (PGIMER), Chandigarh on Wednesday decided to cancel the entrance examination held on Saturday.

The Postgraduate Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, (PGIMER), Chandigarh on Wednesday decided to cancel the entrance examination held on Saturday. The decision will affect more than 7,000 candidates from across the country who had appeared for the examination.

The Central Bureau of Investigation had unearthed an admission scam on Saturday when they raided various centres and arrested several fraudsters. The CBI had raised serious questions on the admission process of the premier institute. Interestingly, the entrance examination at the PGIMER is considered one of the toughest examination in the country.

Significantly, the decision will affect more than 7,000 candidates, who travel from across the country to appear in the entrance examination at the PGIMER to get admission in around 200 postgraduate seats in various medical and surgical specialties.
