The admission notice of AIIMS and PGIMER, which appeared in various newspapers and on the institutes' websites recently, mentions that the entrance examination for admission to MD/MS courses will take place on November 18. The session at both the institutes will start from January next year.

The decision has limited the options of a large number of medical graduates, leaving them disappointed. Both the institutes are the most sought after in the country as far as post-graduation studies in medical sciences are concerned.

After years of preparation, more than 5,000 medical students appear every year for around 200 seats in 20 specialities and super-specialities at the PGIMER. The number of candidates at AIIMS is even higher. Both the medical institutes compete with each other in various specialities when it comes to post-graduation.
