Notwithstanding the anti-snatching nakas, miscreants continue to take away the peace of city residents.
The snatching incidents have witnessed a sudden increase last week with every other day an incident being reported.
In the past two days, two incidents of snatching have taken place.
On May 7, Prem Nath, resident of Sector 21, alleged that unidentified men on a Pulsar motorcycle snatched his gold chain from near his house.
Prem Nath said he could not note down the number of the motorcycle as the miscreants sped away after snatching the chain.
On May 6, a woman became victim of snatching. Police said Amarjit Kaur, resident of Sector 44B, reported that two unidentified men on a motorcycle sped away after snatching her gold chain near her residence.
On May 2, Raj Rani of Nehru Colony, Sector 52, reported to the police that an occupant of a Pulsar motorcycle sped away after snatching her bag containing Rs 1,000 cash.
Police sources said Rani had been crossing the road in Sector 22 when her purse was snatched on Thursday.

A trip across the city reveals that anti-snatching nakas by the police have been set up at almost all traffic intersections. However, these nakas do not deter the miscreants from committing the crimes.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) (law and order) Roshan Lal said, “In the past two days, snatching incidents have definitely increased in city but we have chalked out a strategy to curb the incidents.We have increased the time of anti-snatching nakas in morning and evening.”
