The decision of Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu, who was inducted in Rajya Sabha from Haryana, to adopt Nindana village, the birthplace of Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana has not gone down well with two other village panchayats.
Reason: Nindana is divided into three panchayats - Nindana Khas, Nindana Tiheri and Nindana Mohmadpur, but the decision to adopt Nindana Khas, where Khattar spent earlier years of his life before his family shifted base to Banyani village, has caused heartburn among the other two panchayats.
Some villagers see political reason behind adoption of Khattar's birthplace by the rail minister, who hails from Maharashtra, as it had already remained a model village for the last nine years in previous government.
Jai Bhagwan, sarpanch of Nindana Mohmadpur, told HT that there is resentment in the other two panchayats as one sector of the village would be developed and other two would be left unattended.
Bhagwan said they have met the Rohtak deputy commissioner and additional deputy commissioner in this regard. The officials had assured them of sending their request to the railway minister, he said.
"Ismay Bhaichara kharab hota hai... pichli sarkar nay puray gaon ko adarsh gaon ka darza diya par ab ek panchayat to god lena, baaki do ko chaur dene mein matbhed hota hain (It affects amity among the villages. The previous Congress government provided grant to entire Nindana village. Such decisions create rift among villagers)," said Bhagwan.
Anand Kumar, sarpanch of Nindana Khas village, said they were happy that his sector was adopted but it would have been better if the whole village would have benefitted under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana.

Rohtak ADC Amit Khatri said as per the scheme, the village would be given a new look in terms of cleanliness, building toilets, roads and schools.
On choosing one sector of the village, he said on papers only the name of Nindana village is mentioned but it is not clear whether one sector has been adopted or the entire village.
