Prof Anand, an authority on Punjab politics, started working with the political science department of Panjab University in 1960 and retired in 1983. He was given extension of two years and finally he quit the institution in 1985.

He also used to give IAS coaching and mostly did so as social service. All his three daughters, Meenakshi Anand Chaudhary, Urvashi Gulati, and Keshni Anand Arora, say that they were coached by their father to crack the civil services examinations.

Chaudhary and Gulati had also served as chief secretary of Haryana.

Post-retirement, Chaudhary served as the chief information commissioner and Gulati is still the information commissioner. Arora is now deputy director general, UIDAI, regional office, Chandigarh.
Speaking to HT, Arora said, “Our father was the pillar of support to us and he guided us till his last breath.” “Our father was active till last year and used to guide people on investments. Nothing can replace his presence in our lives,” she added.
