Senior leader Balramji Dass Tandon said Shah’s appointment had given boost to the rank and file of the party.

“His strategy has won the BJP 104 seats out of 120 in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and that was game-changer for the party,” Tandon said, adding that Shah had unmatchable qualities. He said Shah being a companion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi would add to his vigour and command.

“With his (Shah’s) appointment it is expected that the party work will get a big boost throughout the country, especially in small states and also in states where the NDA partners run the government,” Tandon said.

Former Punjab minister and MLA Manoranjan Kalia also welcomed Shah’s appointment terming it as the most prudent decision of the national leadership. Elevation of Shah, a man with proven organisational skills as well as that of government, would make the party and the government move hand-in-hand in taking India towards a glorious future.

Sharma also praised Rajnath Singh’s tenure as the party president and termed it as the most successful tenure when the BJP formed its government at the Centre of its own. “As Rajnath Singh’s tenure would always be rated as the best as it was in this tenure that the BJP bagged seats from remotest areas of the country where the party does not have full organisational strength,” added Sharma.
