Punjab: Ferozepur again leads in paddy procurement
Maintaining its lead Ferozepur procured 4,22,069 tonnes of paddy till date during the ongoing paddy procurement operations in the state while Jalandhar and Kapurthala remained on second and third positions with the total procurement of 3,31,353 tonnes and 3,23,852 tonnes of paddy respectively.

Stating this here on Tuesday a spokesman of the government said that 35, 38,662 tonnes of paddy has been procured in all the 1806 purchase centres set up by the state government till last evening. The government agencies procured 34, 24,136 tonnes i.e 96.8% and the private agencies procured 1, 14,526 tonnes i.e 3.2% so far.
He further said PUNGRAIN also maintained its lead amongst the government agencies and had procured the maximum10,03,484 (29.3%) tonne paddy in the mandis of state whereas MARKFED procured 8,13,561 (23.8%) , PUNSUP 7,59,546 (22.5%), PSWC 3,35,815 (9.8%) PAFC procured 3, 62,958 (10.6%). Central government agency FCI has procured 1, 48,762 tonnes of paddy (4.3%), he added.
