The information was submitted before the court of justice Rakesh Kumar Garg during resumed hearing of a contempt of court petition filed by former PPS officer Kamal Sharma, who retired from the post of superintendent of police (SP).

After observing the 'lackadaisical' attitude of the state government in not finalising the seniority list despite the court's repeated directions, the court had on the last date of hearing summoned the state home secretary and the director general of police (DGP) for an explanation.

During the hearing on Wednesday, principal secretary (home) DS Bains was present in the court, but DGP Sumedh Singh Saini could not appear because of an important engagement.

However, justice Garg directed the officers present in the court to file a proper affidavit about the development on the next date of hearing, February 7.
