The industrial exports in the financial year 2011-12 had registered an increase of Rs 3,872 crore from the previous year, and touched Rs 21,302 crore against Rs 17,430 crore in the year 2010-11, a Punjab government spokesman said here on Thursday.
Appreciating the role of industry in the state's economy, industries minister Madan Mohan Mittal said Punjab was the country's emerging export hub because of its industry- and trade-friendly policies.
"Punjab's export goods are produced mainly by the small and medium industry of eatable goods, clothing, sports goods, handicrafts, machine tools, automobile tools, engineering and electronics products, and medicines," he said.
