They make for a very striking couple with their dashing looks and lithe frames. As Arjan Bajwa and Simran Kaur Mundi - brand ambassadors for the third edition of Blenders Pride Punjab International Fashion Week that will be held in Ludhiana - make their way for a tête-à-tête, their looks give away their Punjabi blood that resonates in their resolve to work for the region's entertainment industry.
Arjan Bajwa, whose role in the popular film, Fashion, earned him the spotlight, credits the Punjabi culture with influencing Bollywood. "Punjab has it all," he says, and asks, "Hasn't Bollywood proved it? No celebration scene in a film is complete unless the vibrant Punjabi culture isn't shown. From our food, clothing, music to culture, everything inspires Hindi films."
He goes on to reason, "If Bollywood can represent Punjabi fashion in it's own way, why shouldn't we put in more efforts to enhance the fashion scene in Punjab?" The hunk is now in a mood to give back to his state by featuring in Punjabi films. Having signed for his first Punjabi movie, (unnamed venture), Arjan adds that he's since been receiving offers because of his strong command over Punjabi. "If I can work in Telegu films, why can't I contribute to my mother tongue?" the actor offers.
Next, Arjan will also be seen in Hindi film, Son of Sardar, an Ajav Devgn production, apart from two other Hindi movie projects. However, he does grudge star kids the comfort they are accorded, saying, "People like me have to make it on their own. The fact that newcomers face more criticism than children of actors, upsets me a lot. But then, seniors say that those who make it in the long run don't usually have a background in films."

On the other hand, Femina Miss India Universe 2008, Simran Kaur Mundi's debut film, Hum Jo Chahein (2011), got a lukewarm response at the box office. However, Simran is content in the belief that it 'wasn't bad as the first step.'
She makes a foray in the Punjabi film industry with singer Jazzy B as her co-star in upcoming film, Best of Luck. "It's Jazzy and me together, what else do I want," she laughs, and the smile is a constant on her pretty face.
The lissome model also promises to speak fluent Punjabi, insisting her long stay in Mumbai has not taken her away from her roots. "At home, we speak in Punjabi, so I have a fluent dialect which surprised the director too," she adds.
"Bollywood is all about Marathi, English and Hindi, but Pollywood gives me a chance to feel at home with my mother tongue," signs off Simran, as she laughingly adds, "I don't need acting lessons, I am a born actor. But it's crying on the sets that I find the toughest."
