The Punjabi film, ‘Phir Chalo School — Oh My Pyo Ji’, will not be released on Friday, June 13, as per schedule as the Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday maintained the stay order put on its release by a Ludhiana trial court last month.
The court has also issued show-cause notice to film producer Niharika Sahni as to why contempt proceedings not be initiated against her.
When Sahni’s petition came up for hearing before the vacation court headed by justice Mahesh Grover on Thursday, the court said, “It is clarified that the petitioner is not protected by any interim order.”
The Ludhiana trial court on May 30 had stayed the release of the film after co-producer Raj Yuvraj Singh Bains had moved it alleging that Sahni had denied him the rights as a co-producer.
Sahni challenged the order in the high court which, on June 9, stayed the trial court’s order subject to further high court order on June 11.
The case came up for hearing on June 11 and the high court ordered Sahni’s lawyer to seek instruction from the petitioner regarding the case and adjourned it to June 12.
When the case came up for hearing on Thursday, Bains’ lawyer informed the court that Sahni had placed some material on a social networking site claiming, “With the blessings of Guru Nanak and the wisdom and judgment of the high court, we hereby declare that the movie is now free of all obstacles and is set to be released on Friday, June 13. The stay on the film was revoked on June 6, and today has been re-confirmed by the Punjab and Haryana high court. A big thanks to all our well-wishers and supporters.”

{{/usCountry}}The court said it had not made any comment on the merits of the case during the hearing on June 11 after which Sahni had commented on the social networking site.
It said, “This to the mind of the court is contumacious and amounts to obstruction in the course of justice. Issue notice to the petitioner to show-cause as to why contempt proceedings not be initiated against her.”
The cast of the comedy and action film includes Babbal Rai, Binnu Dhillon, Jaswinder Bhalla, Bhanushree, Dakshita and Nirmal Rishi.
The case will come up for hearing before the Ludhiana trial court on July 7 and before the high court on July 11.
