Manhas said before the visit of Rahul, the Congress staged a drama of taking the sarpanches and panches to New Delhi, paraded them in front of the Congress general secretary and sought his help to ensure their security.

But unfortunately, Rahul, who seemed really concerned for the security of sarpanches and panches, did not have any mention of the issue while he was in Kashmir. Not only this, silence on part of Rahul on the issue of implementation of the 73rd and 74th amendments in the state, too, had made it clear that both the NC and the Congress were never serious towards the genuine empowerment of panchayats, alleged Manhas.

The Congress has been trying to mislead the people by organizing protests against its own coalition government, he further alleged, and asked the Congress to make its stand clear in public.

If the government was honest in attracting the outside industry, it should abrogate Article 370 for the free flow of investment and Rahul must have advised the NC leadership to go for abrogation of Article 370, which is the main hurdle in attracting the outsiders to invest for setting big industries and manufacturing plants.
