Recommendations invited for I-Day awards

The Punjab government has invited recommendations from deputy commissioners, divisional commissioner and secretary, Punjab Vidhan Sabha, for awards in various categories to be given at the state-level function on Independence Day, 2015.

The Punjab government has invited recommendations from deputy commissioners, divisional commissioner and secretary, Punjab Vidhan Sabha, for awards in various categories to be given at the state-level function on Independence Day, 2015.

A spokesperson of the general administration department said 40 awards would be conferred on persons who had done commendable work in social service, art, culture and literature science and technology. An award would be conferred on a person for bravery. He said the awardees would be honoured with a gold plated silver medal, shawl and citation.

The spokesperson said a special bravery award would be conferred on a person who had shown exemplary courage to counter terrorism. He said for this category, Rs 50,000 would also be given to the awardees. The other awardees under the bravery category will get Rs 25,000. He said the awardees of other categories other than bravery will get Rs 11,000.
