While talking to reporters here on Wednesday, Badal claimed that the relations between the alliance partners were firm and strong as ever. He denied the reports about a strain in the alliance.

He said the SAD and BJP would contest the municipal council elections jointly while denying that the BJP was demanding more seats.

The chief minister said the SAD would plead the case of Sikh prisoners before the Centre for securing their release. He said a deputation of senior Akali leaders would soon call on union home minister Rajnath Singh and union finance minister Arun Jaitley for this.

When asked to comment on the media reports regarding the Centre rejecting the demand by the Punjab government about the release of 13 convicted terrorists, he said the state government had not yet received any communiqué in this regard.

He said the 350th foundation day of Anandpur Sahib would be celebrated in a big way this year.
