One of them is Pizza Hut at plot number 178-179, Industrial Area, Phase I.

Pradeep Kumbhat, vice-president at Reliance Industries, told HT that despite the recent move on service charge, Pizza Hut continued to fleece customers, on Saturday. He said that he tried to argue with the sales boys, but in vain.

He said they told him he could take whatever action he wanted, but they would continue levying service charge.

The bill shows that after adding service charge, Pizza Hut had charged VAT and service tax.

Interestingly, following the directions by the ministry of consumer affairs, the administration had declared the practice illegal way back in 2006. However, several restaurants continue to indulge in the malpractice.
