In 2005, renowned Punjabi filmmaker Manmohan Singh came out with romantic-drama Yaaran Naal Baharan, which saw successful performances by actors Jimmy Shergill, Anupam Kher, Raj Babbar, Juhi Babbar and Gavie Chahal.
Come July 13, director Samit Brar, who claims to have done a filmmaking course from Hollywood, would be taking a gamble by bringing out Yaaran Naal Baharan II, with the same producer - Preetpal Shergill - and three absolute newcomers for lead actors.
Leaving that aside, two actors you would eagerly be looking forward to in the movie will be Yograj Singh and Shivendra Mahal. Yograj is returning to the Punjabi film industry after nine long years. Talking about his absence from the silver screen, he says, "The reason I left the industry nine years ago was because back then, filmmakers didn't know how to treat actors; we were treated like servants. Now, things have changed."
About his famous son, cricketer Yuvraj Singh, overshadowing his acting career, he says, "I have always lived for my family. Now, I think it's high time I become known for more than just being Yuvraj's dad. I want to be known as Yograj, the actor, and explore my calibre."
On Yuvraj, he further adds, "I am happy that my son is loved by everyone even during the hardest of times. But as a father, I think I have done my bit. Yuvraj is quite levelheaded and mature by now to make his own life decisions. He also plans to adopt children someday, which I think is quite an achievement for a father."

{{/usCountry}}The actor, who has worked in Hollywood movie West is West, and Kalpana Lajmi's Kaanch, is trying his luck in Bollywood too. His character in Yaaran Naal Baharan II is that of former Punjab DGP KPS Gill, who, during Punjab insurgency was accused of human rights violation, in the name of stamping out terrorism. "KPS Gill is a friend. I have met him a few times, and my role would clearly depict that Gill somewhere knew he was wrong, but because of his powerful position, couldn't confess his folly. My character in the film will be apologising on his behalf," says Yograj, at Chandigarh Press Club, Sector 27.
