The rift going on between Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has now become obvious online with members from both the parties hitting out at each other on social networking website Facebook.
Amit Rana, president of BJP Yuva Morcha, lashed out at SAD councillor Malkiat Singh over local issues on Facebook.
Rana has been continuously posting defamatory comments on the website against the SAD councillor for the past two months.
He even held a protest against the councillor.
On the other hand, the SAD councillor alleged that BJP had indulged in dirty politics and the local leader was doing it on the behest of some BJP councillors. He even threatened to break the alliance with BJP.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Malkiat Singh said, “The BJP leader is doing all this on the behest of some BJP councillors. I have taken up the issue with city MP Kirron Kher and BJP president Sanjay Tandon, but they have not interfered into it so far. I am now lodging a complaint with the Chandigarh SSP against Rana.”
He added that BJP did not have any respect for the alliance between the two parties, and, instead, was provoking the youth leader against him. “I will not tolerate this. After taking up the matter with SAD leaders, we will break the alliance if required,” he added.

When contacted, BJP leader of opposition, Arun Sood, refused to comment on the issue, while BJP councillor Satinder Singh said, “When the issue was brought to notice of the senior leaders, they should have sorted it out. Also, the area councillor knows the problems of his ward, and in case any BJP leader has any issues, he should bring them to his notice instead of protesting against him.”
