Three days after former Haryana assistant advocate general Anuradha Bali alias Fiza was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her Sector 48 residence in Mohali, the police on Thursday recovered Rs 93 lakh in cash, 1.5-kg gold, 800-gram silver and "5-7" compact discs (CDs) from a cupboard in her house.
The recovery was made after a police team opened up almirahs in the house that had been locked up. The senior superintendent of police (SSP0 confirmed this. "During the investigation, we found Rs 92,86,160 in cash, and gold and silver jewellery, stacked in her almirah," said SAS Nagar SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said.
The police also recovered six CDs from the locker of an almirah. "Yes, we have also recovered 5-7 CDs, but are yet to see what data they contain," Bhullar added. The police team descended on the house of Fiza, whose claim to fame was her short-lived and controversial marriage to former Haryana deputy chief minister Chander Mohan, at about 10am in the morning and continued to look for evidence till 7.45 pm. The police had opened an almirah on the first floor.
On why these almirahs were not opened earlier, Bhullar said the police had to allow the forensic team to collect all evidence first. "Anuradha Bali had died under mysterious circumstances. We were probing the circumstances that led to her death. So, till the forensic team did not pick up the clues from the house, nothing was opened," he said.

They opened two almirahs of which the key of only one was recovered, while the lock of the other had to be broken open. The police had brought in two teller machines to count the currency notes and a jeweller to examine the gold and silver ornaments recovered from the house. The search was carried out in the presence of Fiza's sister.
