Mussa ka Gul is primarily used as tooth powder, said Narender Ahuja Vivek, assistant state drug controller, Haryana.

He added, "The ingredients on the product mentioned that it contained tobacco/nicotine. The central government had banned the use of tobacco/nicotine in 1992. The product did not have a manufacturing date, batch number and manufacturing license number."

The use of nicotine/tobacco in tooth powder causes mouth cancer. "The samples have been sent to our laboratory in Chandigarh for testing," he said.

"After the confirmation of tobacco/nicotine, we have decided to register a case under section 284 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for negligent conduct to use of poisonous substance. Besides, relevant sections of Drugs and Cosmetic Act and Poisons Act will also be slapped," said Vivek.
