Saturday night was the third coldest night in the past ten years with the minimum temperature in the city dropping to 2.3 degree Celsius.
The Chandigarh Meteorological Centre said the minimum temperature recorded on Saturday was 2.3 degree Celsius and the maximum was 18.5 degree Celsius. Till this year, the night of December 28, 2011 remained the coldest in several years with the minimum temperature at 0.8 degree Celsius.
On December 29, 2004, the minimum temperature was recorded at 1 degree Celsius. On Sunday, the city woke up to a sunny morning, with visibility less than 1,500 m. The forecast is that the sky will be partly cloudy with mist and fog.
