The deceased, identified as Sawpnel alias Sanju, a resident of Manjholi village of Kupavi tehsil of Shimla district, was studying in class 7 of local BL Central Public School, and staying alone in a rented accommodation in Shamti area of the town since February 2012.

Surprisingly, Sawpnel had celebrated his birthday along with his classmates and other students, staying in the building, two days ago, but when his body was found hanging from a ceiling fan it shocked his neighbours, on Friday evening.

Solan SP Prem Thakur said the preliminary investigations revealed that Sanju had returned to his room at about 6 pm from his tuition class. Later, his immediate neigbourers, who are students of LR Group of Educational Institutions, noticed that Sanju's room was closed and he was not attending his cell phone calls, made by them to call him for watching the television.

Thakur said that after recording the statement of the deceased's father, Daulat Ram, the body was sent for autopsy to Indira Gandhi Medical College as the investigation officer had requested the medical officer to conduct the same by a team of medical officer.

Thakur said that besides, a team of forensic experts also visited the spot and collected the evidence. He said that since the body has been sent for autopsy, further action would only be initiated only after receipt of the report of the doctors as no injury marks were found the body of the dead.
