Sec-33 businessman buys CH-01-AX-001 for Rs 7 lakh

With Sector-33 businessman Harinder Singh paying Rs 7 lakh for the right to flaunt the number CH-01-AX-0001 on his flashy BMW 6 Series 640d, the Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA) collected Rs 69.92 lakh from the auction of first 100 numbers of the series, on Saturday. For the first 100 numbers of AW series, the department had collected Rs 53 lakh.

The number CH-01-AX-0002 was bought by Harnihal Singh and CH-01-AX-0003 by Ravish Kataria, for Rs 2.87 lakh and Rs 2.9 lakh, respectively.

A retired inspector with Punjab police Jugraj Singh bought CH-01-AX-0004 for his new Audi A4 for Rs 2.5 lakh. He said "I have participated in the bid for the first time." His son Sukhwinder Singh (Honey) seemed to have been the driving force behind buying the number.

CH-01-AX-0009 the second favourite

After 0001, the second favourite number among the bidders was 'CH-01-AX-0009' that saw intense competition and finally sold for Rs 4.01 lakh. The winner Munish Jindal, a Mandi Gobindgarh, industrialist, said, "It is my lucky number and I am happy to win this for my new car."
