Three days after a daylight robbery at a jewellery shop in Sector 22, the local police continue to grope in dark about the accused.
The robber had shot at the salesman, Paramjit Singh alias Sonu, 38, before escaping with gold chains from Karan Jewellers.
On Friday, high drama prevailed when the police got a call that the robber was seen on a bus at the Sector-17 inter-state bus terminus (ISBT).
Since the Chandigarh police announced a reward of Rs 50,000 to anyone providing vital clues about the robbery suspect, they have got hundreds of calls; but are yet to get a substantial clue about the accused.
A team of cops rushed to Sector 17 and searched for the suspect in almost all buses for half an hour, but in vain.
Meanwhile, the police have interrogated around a 100 youngsters, including bouncers, wrestlers and gym trainers, since the robbery incident, as the suspect seemed to be a sportsman, muscleman or a bouncer.
Two crime branch teams have been sent to Amritsar and Ludhiana and other parts of Punjab.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP), central, Ashish Kapoor said, “There is no breakthrough as yet. But we are on the job. The police teams are not taking any call lightly and are acting on all clues as any information can turn out to be vital.”

Meanwhile, taking precautionary measures, a large number of jewellers handed out verification forms to their employees. These forms will be handed over to the police.
