Security beefed up for agri summit

The Punjab Police have beefed up the security arrangements for the Agriculture Summit 2014-Progressive Punjab, which is scheduled to take place from February 16 to19 at Chappar Chiri in SAS Nagar.

The Punjab Police have beefed up the security arrangements for the Agriculture Summit 2014-Progressive Punjab, which is scheduled to take place from February 16 to19 at Chappar Chiri in SAS Nagar.

As many as 2,500 cops, including three inspector generals, five deputy inspector general and seven commandants will be deputed at the venue to avoid any untoward mishap. Dinkar Gupta, additional director general of police of security, supervised the security arrangements on Friday.

A total of 2,000 police personnel were called from different zones, including Patiala, Phillaur and Jhankila whereas 500 cops were deputed from SAS Nagar police for the security.

Different routes have been made by the organisers to attend the summit.

Platinum route will be made especially for the foreign guests, delegates, experts and scientists. Other state ministers, invited by the Punjab government, will also use this route.

Gold route will be opened for the dignitaries of the Punjab government, including the officials. The VIPs and VVIPs coming at Chappar Chiri through Sector 91 in SAS Nagar, can use either the routes.

However, as per the schedules, all the VIPs will be coming by air, but road route has been fixed from the city airport to Chappar Chiri through Tribune roundabout to SAS Nagar.
