SIT records statements of PNB officials in banker suicide case

The special investigation team (SIT) recorded statements of a number of officials of Punjab National Bank, including those present in the meeting where chief manager Ajay Sehgal was humiliated following which he jumped before a train on July 2.

The special investigation team (SIT) recorded statements of a number of officials of Punjab National Bank, including those present in the meeting where chief manager Ajay Sehgal was humiliated following which he jumped before a train on July 2.

Sources in the SIT said many officials had supported the claim that Sehgal was targeted in the meeting. In his suicide note, Sehgal had cited field general manager JK Gupta and circle head AK Gupta’s harassment as the reason behind his suicide.

While the General Railway Police (GRP) was initially investigating the case, it was later transferred to the AmbalaPanchkula commissionerate and a SIT was formed to look into it.

All India Punjab National Bank Officers’ Association general secretary Rajinder Walli claimed that Sehgal was being harassed by the suspects and was also being labeled as a chronic non-performMeanwhile, SIT has applied for the copy of HR general manager Sushma Bali’s internal inquiry report after which both suspects were suspended.
Currently, both JK Gupta and AK Gupta have applied for anticipatory bail.
