Southern sectors powerless for 5 hours

A technical snag in the power line from SAS Nagar led to disruption in power supply in the majority of sectors in southern parts of the city for over five hours on Monday.

A technical snag in the power line from SAS Nagar led to disruption in power supply in the majority of sectors in southern parts of the city for over five hours on Monday.

Officials with the electricity department said that parts of Sectors 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 43, 44, 51, 52, 53 were among the affected areas.

UT superintending engineer MP Singh said: “The majority of the southern parts of the city were electricity as power lines from SAS Nagar and Nalagarh developed a technical snag. We pressed all our resources into service, but it took us over some time to restore the supply,” said MP Singh.

At present, the city is receiving 67% of its power through SAS Nagar (PSEB), about 10% through Dhulkote ( B B MB) and remaining 23% through Nalagarh. The electricity department received over 100 complaints from residential areas during the evening.
