Sports department extends date for receipt of scholarship forms

The Chandigarh Sports Department has extended the date for the receipt of scholarship application forms to August 31, against the earlier date of July 31.

The Chandigarh Sports Department has extended the date for the receipt of scholarship application forms to August 31, against the earlier date of July 31.

The department will give away scholarships to players who participated in UT state tournaments during the year 2013-14 and claimed one of three spots.

The scholarships will be given to achievers in the following games: archery, athletic, aquatics, badminton, basketball, billiards/snookers, boxing, baseball, cricket, canoeing, cycling, equestrian, fencing, football, golf, gymnastics, hockey, handball, judo, kabaddi, kho kho, lawn tennis, rifle shooting, rowing, sailing/ yachting, skating, skiing, swimming, softball, squash, table tennis, taekwondo, triathlon, volleyball, weightlifting and wrestling.

Players, who secured first position in the senior championships, inter-college or interschool (for under-19) events, will be awarded with the annual scholarship of ` 4,000.

The sportspersons who finished second and third will receive scholarships worth ` 2,400 and ` 1,500, respectively.

Likewise, players, who finished first in the junior championships or inter-school events (for under-14 and under-17), will receive an annual scholarship worth ` 3,000.

The second and third-place finishers will receive scholarships worth ` 1,800 and ` 1,000, respectively.

Incomplete applications or applications received after the due date will not be entertained.

The forms should be deposited in the office of the district sports officer (Chandigarh) at the Sector-42 Sports Complex between 9am to 5pm during working days. The above said form is also available on website of the Chandigarh Administration — http://www. chandigarh.nic.in/.
