Srinagar highway reopens, 1600 stranded vehicles cleared

The 300 km long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been reopened for vehicular traffic, a day after it was blocked due to a major landslide at Ramban. More than 1600 stranded vehicles have also been cleared.

The 300 km long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been reopened for vehicular traffic, a day after it was blocked due to a major landslide at Ramban. More than 1600 stranded vehicles have also been cleared.

“The landslide was cleared at 11 am and more than 1600 stranded vehicles have been cleared from the Highway in afternoon,” said Anil Magotra, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ramban.

Onced the blockage was opened, the vehicles from Srinagar to Jammu were allowed to ply on the Highway.

The Jammu-Srinagar National highway was blocked due to a major landslide at Seri belt of Ramban district on Tuesday triggered by heavy rain in the region.

The Highway authorities have allowed only one way traffic to ply on the highway.

Meanwhile clear weather was observed in the Jammu region on Wednesday.
