State information panel goes ‘headless’

The Punjab government is looking for a new chief information commissioner (CIC) for the State Information Commission, which has gone ‘headless’ with the retirement of incumbent CIC Ramesh Inder Singh on June 28.

The Punjab government is looking for a new chief information commissioner (CIC) for the State Information Commission, which has gone ‘headless’ with the retirement of incumbent CIC Ramesh Inder Singh on June 28.

Some retired bureaucrats and legal luminaries have applied for the post, which was advertised by the state government last month. Former IAS officers SS Channy and DS Bains, who recently retired, are among the front-runners for the CIC’s job.

Ramesh Inder had completed his five-year term as the CIC as per Section 16 (1) of the Right To Information Act, 2005, a spokesman said here.
