State to achieve 9% growth rate in milk production

Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the state would achieve 9% growth rate in milk production against the present rate of 5% per year. Addressing a gathering as a chief guest on the inauguration of Dudhmotisagar Dairy in Dharuhera in Rewari district, Hooda exhorted the dairy to procure at least 10-lakh litre of milk daily from milk-producing farmers of the area.

Addressing a gathering as a chief guest on the inauguration of Dudhmotisagar Dairy in Dharuhera in Rewari district, Hooda exhorted the dairy to procure at least 10-lakh litre of milk daily from milk-producing farmers of the area. Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar inaugurated the dairy.

"The increase in milk procurement will not only encourage dairy farmers to produce more milk, but also generate employment," Hooda said.

The function was presided over by Vipulbhai Chaudhary, chairman of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation and Mehsana District Cooperative Milk Producers' Union.

The dairy plant has been established by the union and its processing capacity will be 30-lakh litre a day.

"It will improve the supply of milk and its products such as curd and butter milk for consumers in Delhi and National Capital Region," the chief minister said.

Dudhmotisagar Dairy already has one unit of 10-lakh litre capacity at Manesar, Hooda said, adding that Haryana had always been a pioneer in the field of animal husbandry. Its murrah buffalo is famous the world over.
