Reacting to Congress president Sonia Gandhi's address in Mandi rally on Monday, linking BJP with the corruption, he said: "She wouldn't have even discussed the issue of corruption in Mandi rally had she knew the facts about the person (Virbhadra Singh) sitting next to her on the dais."

"Everybody must be honest but those who claim lineage must always be demonstrably more honest than others," he said referring to Singh.

Jaitely said the case regarding Ispat industries payoff to 'VBS' is "a case of bribery, conversion of bribe money through money laundering into real income and forgery by back dating agreements."

I am sure, he quipped, had this been brought into the knowledge of Sonia Gandhi, perhaps she wouldn't have shared the stage with Singh the rally.
"She is also being judged by the company she has kept, at least yesterday, in the public meeting," he said.

He further said the case pertaining to Singh is a open and shut case of corruption.

Jaitely further said the CBI cannot investigate this case as diaries which IT department had seized from Mumbai also had entry about expenses incurred on the CBI and directorate of enforcement.

"When money was spent on CBI, as per those accounts books, how can CBI investigate this case?" he asked.
