“Being an alumni of the Government College of Arts, Sector 10, I keep visiting the institution. It was during one of my usual visits there that these artists’ artwork attracted me. Thus — having doing artwork for years myself and reaching a stage where I believe I have some responsibility towards the youth — I gave them a platform to exhibit their talent,” said Sonal.

Rajya Lakshmi from Andhra Pradesh, one of the eight exhibitors, seemed enthusiastic about sharing her woodcut artwork, as she began by saying, “Woodcut technique is basically using a woodcut plate, carving images on it with tools, followed by applying colours with rollers and then transferring it on paper. I, personally, like playing with the different moods of women and have tried depicting her in pain, harmony and at work.”

Artist Vinod’s fascination with shoes comes across in his work, as his work revolved around shoes and a neeli chatri. The eighth exhibitor, Vikas, decided to give a tribute to nature through. “Wood is our tool to create art; the same wood is worshipped in many religions in our country. Thus, I thought of paying tribute to wood itself.”

The exhibition is on till October 24.
