The BR Ambedkar auditorium at HMT Complex, Pinjore, reverberated with the centuries-old vedic culture as the 450 students of the Vivekananda Millennium School, Pinjore, were conferred with completion certificates of Sustained Graded Value Education Programme (SGVEP).
The convocation was held in a traditional manner with “Dikshant Samroh”to preserve and nurture the ancient “guru shishya parampara”.
SGVEP, being conducted under the guidance of Ramakrishana mission headquarters, Belur Math, West Bengal, to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, is sponsored by the Government of India.
With enthused didactic ethos, dressed in traditional white Indian cap, students started the programme by offering “Kanika”to Acharya Anupamanand, secretary, Ramkrishna Mission, Chandigarh, and took blessings of goddess Saraswati followed by “shanti mantra”which resonated in the air as the melodious couplets of “bhajan”soothed every soul.
Speaking on the occasion, Piyush Punj, principal, stated, “We uphold the rich culture and traditions and it’s a very pious feeling to see the traditional way of convocation, wherein, “shisyas”offer their gratitude to their “acharyas”and in return take their blessings.
We wanted that our students should understand their tradition as we feel that moral values, nowadays, are being eroded by the western whiffs of consumerism.”
