Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday dismissed excise and taxation officer (ETO) Baljinder Singh and compulsorily retired assistant excise and taxation commissioner (AETC) and three ETOs on charges of corruption and non-performance.
Sukhbir gave orders for compulsory retirement of AETC DS Gill, who was posted at Patiala as senior auditor, and ETOs Surinder Kumar Aggarwal, posted at SAS Nagar, Urvashi Goel at Ludhiana and Harpreet Singh at Patiala.
ETO Baljinder Singh was recruited in 2012 and was under probation. His services have been dispensed with after finding him guilty in a corruption case.
A trader, Bhushan Aggarwal, in a complaint to the department, had alleged that Baljnder Singh had taken a bribe of `1 lakh from him. Deputy excise and taxation commissioner Sarojini Gautam Sharda probed into the matter and found Baljinder Singh guilty.
The action was taken against the AETC and 3 ETOs as their performance was found below par.
The government spokesperson said that there is a provision in the Punjab civil services (premature retirement) rules, 1975 to review the performance of Group 'A' & 'B' employees at regular intervals and compulsorily retire the non-performers.
