At the meeting, Verma said though the seventh pay commission's recommendations had been implemented, compensation of teachers in the state had still to be revised to comply with the sixth pay panel's report. He added the association will again take up the teachers' demands with the state government and make all efforts to ensure all pending issues are resolved.

Key demands made by the teachers include increasing the age of superannuation from 60 to 65 years, providing past service benefits, converting posts from self financed to budgeted, revising the workload according to UGC norms, removing rural service conditions, providing opportunities to benefit from academic performance scores and implementing a comprehensive medical insurance scheme in government-aided colleges.
