Three city residents become snatchers target

Snatching continues to go unchecked in the city. Three city residents were targeted by miscreants, who snatched their belongings in separate incidents on Sunday.

Snatching continues to go unchecked in the city. Three city residents were targeted by miscreants, who snatched their belongings in separate incidents on Sunday.

In the first incident, two unidentified motorcycle-borne youths snatched a bag from a Burail resident on Sunday. The incident took place near Sector 22.

The victim, Pinki, reported that that she was attacked by motorcycle-borne youths, who came from behind and snatched her hand bag which contained mobile phone, artificial jewellery and Rs10,000. The victim told the police that all accused were wearing helmet and she failed to note down the registration number of the vehicle.

A case of assault or criminal force in attempt to commit theft of property carried by a person and punishment for theft has been registered under sections 356 and 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Sector-17 police station.

In another incident, Rajinder Pal Kaur, a resident of Manimajra, reported that occupants of Activa scooter sped away after snatching her bag which contained a watch, debit card, documents and Rs 2,000 from near her residence. A case under sections 356 and 379 of the IPC has been registered at the Manimajra police station.
