Taking a serious note of wrong information submitted regarding the strength of students, Punjab education minister Sikander Singh Maluka on Friday directed the authorities concerned to suspend three school lecturers with immediate effect, namely Harjit Singh, lecturer in economics and officiating principal, Naresh Kumar, lecturer in mathematics, and Neelam, lecturer in biology, Government Senior Secondary School, Lehri (Bathinda).
These lecturers were found guilty of submitting wrong information during a physical verification.
Stating this here, the minister stated that in a bid to keep intact their posts, these lecturers showed the students' strength as 22 (non-medical and medical), while during an inquiry, it was found to be only five.
Maluka said the state education department had initiated a rationalisation process in all schools of the state to ensure required teacher-student ratio.
The minister cautioned all officers/teachers/officials of the department against submitting wrong information regarding the strength of students in their respective institutions.
