The last day of the three-day Chandigarh Rose Festival saw a huge turnout of crowds before the curtains were finally drawn on the annual affair. Various activities had been organised, which kept both adults and children busy.
A sunny Sunday morning saw a magic show by old-timers Pradeep Kumar, 40, and Radha, 36, who were happy to have the crowds riveted to their tricks despite performing at the fest every year. "The crowd loved our show even though most of them know what to expect as they have seen us perform at functions across the city. It's still a great experience," they shared, adding however, that holding the festival at the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden in Sector 16 and the carnival at Leisure Valley, Sector 10, has led to crowds diminishing.
Later in the day, an antakshari competition as well as a puppet show and an on-the-spot painting competition had both children and grown-ups enjoying themselves. "I know that if I do well, my parents will reward me with cotton candy," smiled 12-year-old Radha mischievously.
Statues of exotic animals and sculptures covered by flowers also adorned the landscape, it being a huge draw for the kids who were seem trying to clamber over them. A food stall set up by CITCO, called 'CITCO da vehra' had a rural village setting complete with huts and wells. Apart from the fun and frolic, stalls erected by a blood bank and the Chandigarh State AIDS control Society tried to spread awareness amongst the people.

{{/usCountry}}While the roses were far from blooming, it all hardly mattered to the public. "This is an experience in itself. There is so much to do here that honestly, I almost forgot there are supposed to be roses here," said Mahima, a city resident who was there with her husband and children.
The evening saw a performance by Punjabi singer Gippy Grewal - a fitting end to three days of festivities.
