It was Anuj Sachdeva’s father who convinced him to try out for modelling, something not very heard of, considering parents’ reservation about the glam world. “Well, my father is more like a friend to me. He always said try anything you want to, but put your heart into it.

I remember even in college, my friends insisted that I try my hand at modelling, but I never had that confidence in me, till the day my father told me he wished to see me participate in Grasim Mr India in 2005,” recalls Anuj.

Having appeared in the Bollywood film Delhii Heights in 2007, Anuj says he always believed in quality of work, not the category. So, he believes he bridged that gap by appearing on TV. Praising the hard work put in by TV actors, he says, “I never believed there is any status difference between Bollywood and the small screen.Instead, I always believed that TV is a larger medium today, since actors also resort to it to promote their films. Also, it’s tough shooting for TV, as the time constraint happens to kill quality. But, imagine how talented TV artistes are that they somehow manage to deliver with that limitation."

Known for being vocal about his low regard for TRPs, he says he has never believed in TRPs since the channel itself claimed that the system is not correct. “Just for the reason that we don’t have better ways to judge the popularity of the show, we are forced to buy this way of thinking,” he rues.

Talking about his asscociation with Buddhism, he says, “I was introduced to it by a close friend and I am really thankful to her, as it has completely changed me as a person. Since this philosophy is based on logic, I have experienced that it works when you have faith.”

On being asked about his role in the Punjabi film he’s here to shoot, tentatively named Police Station, he says, “This film is a situational comedy. For a change, people will get to see my comic timing and not just my romantic side,” he concludes.
