Two people were arrested for allegedly sexually harassing and assaulting a woman at the Indira Colony market here on Sunday.
The suspects have been identified as Babu Ram, 25, and Gian Chand, 30, both residents of the colony.
According to police, they passed lewd remarks when the victim came to the market. When she objected, they allegedly assaulted her.
The accused were produced before a local court, which sent them to judicial custody. A case under sections 294 (obscene acts and songs), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354-A (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 34 (acts done by several persons) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at the Manimajra police station.
